4 Things You Must Do at World of Concrete 2018

Whether you go every year or this is your first time, World of Concrete is always something to experience. With exciting exhibits, competitions, special events, educational programs, an insight into new products, networking, and so much more, you will certainly take away a lot from this well-known industry event. Plus, it’s in sunny Las Vegas, which is an extra bonus for attending! However, with so much going on, it may be hard for you to decide what exactly to do. Thankfully, you don’t have to worry. Here are four things you must do if you’re attending World of Concrete 2018.

1. Check out the CIM Auction.

The CIM Auction at World of Concrete will be held on Wednesday, January 24th with both a silent auction and a live auction. Last year, the auction had 150 items and raised more than $875,000 for the CIM program. What makes it special is that you don’t have to physically be there to participate, which means you can bid on items while perusing through booths. Visit the CIM website for details on how to register, and don’t forget to bid on the super fun sports weekend package Ozinga donated to the event!

2. Learn about pervious concrete.

Pervious concrete is a specialty concrete that allows water to pass through it, reducing the runoff. World of Concrete is providing Pervious Concrete Hot Topics seminar, an information-packed session covering production, testing, and placement of pervious concrete. Led by Walt Flood, David Liguori, and Ozinga’s very own Brian Lutey, this is a session you simply won’t want to miss.

3. Take the Hoover Dam and Bypass Bridge tour.

The Hoover Dam and Bypass Bridge are two of the world’s most famous concrete structures, and you can take a tour of both at World of Concrete 2018. You’ll learn about the construction of both attractions as well as hear some history about Las Vegas and the Boulder City area. An elevator ride through a rock wall and a guided tour through a tunnel are also included if operational. Keep in mind there’s a decent amount of walking, but it’s totally worth it.

4. Take in a demonstration.

The best way to truly wrap your head around a new product or service is to get up close and personal with it. At this year’s World of Concrete, select companies are offering featured demonstrations to help you learn more about new industry developments. OZTEC Industries is demonstrating a Rebar Shaker®, Plexxis Software will show off contractor technology, and there are so many more.

One way to ensure you get the most out of your trip is to plan ahead. Peruse the World of Concrete website to see what sounds the most interesting to you, and then be sure to have a schedule in place.
